Vampire Weekend = The Shiznit

So one of my favorite new bands is the NY 4 piece, Vampire Weekend. These guys are all EX Columbia University students (note EX not grads!) and they have a really cool minimalist sound and they wear their afro-cuban influences on their sleeves. It turns out not only do they rock, but they make cool video's too! Here is the video for their lead single off their self titled debut LP. The songs called A-Punk and it rocks.

They also did some MTV sessions (in Europe) and did these cool stripped down performances of Mansford Roof and Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa. I love how intimate the shooting style is on these videos.

Ok, so they took down the European MTV sessions, so i hope you saw them while they were up. If not, here are supplement videos of Vampire weekend on Take Away Shows, which are stripped down performances by indie bands on the streets of Paris. Very cool. If you don't believe me go here and see for yourself.

Mansford Rood

Happy watching, more to come soon.
